Marcus Tobin says the players intensity has upped this week

Epping Upper Clapton return to League Action on Saturday (20th October) after the League break playing at home (3pm kick off) against 3rd place Braintree, Clapton are in second place behind League leaders Chelmsford on points difference.

Braintree have built on a solid 3rd place London 3Essex campaign last season (18-11-7) winning 4 out of 5 games, their only set back a narrow 10pts to 12 loss away at Chelmsford in September.

Head Coach Marcus Tobin commented “We are expecting the toughest challenge to date on Saturday, Braintree have a strong coaching team and skill full players, and have shown a strong defensive effort averaging only 12 points conceded per game.

As a coaching team we have been impressed with our squad at practice this week in terms of enthusiasm and high intensity , the squad looked energised both physically and mentally after the League break.”

Speedster Jack Glass makes his first start of the season on the Right Wing, and Centre partnership Joe Mbu and George Cook play their 6th consecutive game having been instrumental in attack helping to create the 23 tries Clapton have scored this season, and defensively restricting the opposition to 6 line breaks over this period.
