(If coaching was easy everyone would have a shot at it) The club will miss Marcus both as a friend and a coach who gave everything Danny Elmer

Marcus Tobin has decided to stand down from the position of Head Coach after two seasons with
our club
The Coaches and all the players would like to thank Marcus for the key role he has had in their development over the last two seasons
The entire club would also like to thank Marcus for the professionalism and passion he brought to our club, and we wish him luck for the future
Steve Douglas and John Robinson will take over as Head Coaches of Adult Rugby
Both these coaches have a wealth of experience as Players and Coaches and are hugely respected by the players and the club at large. They have worked together for the last two seasons and are aware of the roles both will play in the new set up
John Robinson (Robbo) stated
“In the last two years I have enjoyed being part of the club, I have grown to understand the special culture that exists, I am incredibly proud and excited to be part of the future”
Steven Douglas (Smugsy) stated
“In the words of one of our past Presidents we are going onwards and upwards. The club will never be defined by one season, we build again and go forwards into what are exciting times for our club”
Joe Mbu is considering his options and remains part of our club. The support of Martin Heys and Peter Harrendence will be vital in the playing section of our club along with Nick Cooke and his team. Watch out for announcements regarding the 3’s
Marcus has shared the following insight of his time at our club“
There is no disguising the fact that at First Team Level it has been a challenging season in London 2 NE, and I would like to thank the playing squad for their resilience, fortitude and commitment throughout, under the captaincy of Cameron Furlong and vice captaincy of George Cook.
The improvement in performance since post-Christmas has been clear and the U18 players have performed to a high standard, having to learn senior rugby at Level 7.
This augers well for next season when many of these players will be part of the playing squad, along with a group of players of 20/21 years of age who will now be exceeding 50 games of league rugby over 3 seasons, and of course the more experienced senior players.
The “A” team has been a real success and has been a positive environment under the management of Nick Cook, Steve Ericson and captaincy of TC, encouraging player development at an appropriate competitive level (Herts/Middlesex Merit Table 3).
It would also be remiss not to acknowledge the sterling work of Physio Martin Heys (who managed to both prevent injury and accelerate recovery with equal skill), Head of Playing John Wain, Team Manager Pete Harrendence, and Simon Parrish (who managed to produce excellent playing surfaces in the most challenging weather).
May I take this opportunity to wish all Epping Upper Clapton members, committee and players all the best for the future.” END
We now build again for the future, the role that Marcus has played in transition players into the adult club has been a huge success. We will continue to grow from within whilst attracting new players to our great club
Hope all our players are taking responsibility for their own fitness and everyone reading this are staying safe.
Regards John Wain. Head of Playing
