EPPING UCRFC LADIES & GIRLS RUGBY TEAM MEETING

Date & Time: 1st May 2019 at 19.00
Venue: Changing Room 2
Those present: Danny Elmer, Simon Parrish, John Wayne, Ollie Stokes, Sarah Ball, Gemma Hammond, Rebecca Howard, Kerrie Mouncey, Donna McDonald, Sophie Hurley, Gary Hurley, Nina Honey, Vikki Wootton, Dan Beecroft, Jane Elmer as well as x 3 under 13 Girls EUCFRFC Representatives
Apologies: Annette Devonshire & Vicky Storrar (at another meeting in club)

First meeting held to discuss the development and inclusion of Girls & Ladies Rugby at EUCRFC
DE welcomed and introduced key members to the group, JW, OS & SP
Why have the meeting: Girls are coming out of minis’ with no further part to play at the club but have been part of the Club for many years.
Growing female sport
Need for inclusiveness
Looking for under 13’s, Under 15’s & 18’s & Ladies
On the agenda
Recruitment:
The group were asked for ideas for how to send the message out there, to gain interest and more importantly attract potential players
Suggestions:
Use Epping High Street to promote with leaflets and flyers – perhaps fancy dress costumes to attract interest.
Enlist the support of Gyms, Pubs, offices, Cafes, Schools and shops to put a poster in window
Continue to use Facebook, Instagram & Website
Go to schools and run activities
Promote a summer camp at EUCRFC
Posters
Word of mouth
Approaching sponsors for promoting
Consider Park run ( Harlow uses this as a way to attract players) Saturday mornings 09.00
School fetes
School Teachers of the club – using connection and network in schools in local area.
Have and promote social events, so that is not just about rugby
Could school trips be organized to rugby events?
If any other suggestions, ideas please speak to DE

SB volunteered to approach Epping Council in regards to a ‘pop up ‘ stand to use in advertising and recruiting campaign
Girls volunteered to be part of the campaign to distribute leaflets
Dan B will produce poster for campaign use
All to share on Facebook to attract a wider audience
Training nights:
Only availability Friday nights 19.30- 20.30
First training night Friday 28th June 2019
Plan is to train throughout the summer

All agreed to this
Poster advertising ideas:

Poster should include: No experience needed, Qualified coaches, DBS checked, Get fit, bring a friend etc
Training:
Proposal for all to train on same night and split into groups
Have monthly Introduction to Rugby Nights Free Trials in order to attract new recruits

Insurance – will this be different for females
Sponsorship and Kit
Membership
DBS checks
Safeguarding screens
First Aiders
Buddy support system JW qualified to coach
Nina, Sophie & Sarah willing to provide support
Gemma willing to consider coaching course
Other Members of group will look into coaching
Are there First Aiders amongst parents whose skills could be utilized
SB is First Aider
No game, no fee but low cost membership necessary for insurance purposes
Volunteers to support teams please make yourself known
