A hat trick of tries by winger Lindsey Dobbin was the chief talking point after Clapton continued there current run of form with this comprehensive win under extremely testing conditions.
The victor that extends there lead in the Essex merit table.
The win couldnt have been imaginable earlier on in the day with snow, rain and a hailing wind battering the Thornwood pitches. Several last minute cry offs also tested the squad depth somewhat with Liam O'connor, Charlie Oaks and Alfie Renolds all being drafted in at the last minute
By kick off conditions had improved somewhat with even the hint of a ray of sunshine.
The wind was making handling difficult with both teams spilling the ball on regular occasions. Clapton were finding more success when they kept the ball tight and recycled quickly this was to lead to the first try of the afternoon with the impressive TC Brabent crashing over from close range. As the half went on Clapton chanced there arm out wide with Lindsey Dobbin crossing and then again 10 minutes later. From the kick off the ball found Liam Rogers who made a terrific barnstorming run to touchdown under the posts to bring the half to an end.
Thurrock started the second half the better and were rewarded for there efforts with a converted try. The rest of the game howerer was to go to the home team with tries for Tom Roberts, Mike Stridea third for Dobbin and as with last week the final try from Kurtis Knightly who also had a good day with the boot converting 7 from 8
An all round good team performance with special mentions for Liam Rogers, TC and Tom Procell. Man of the match though went to John Gunnell who made countless tackles and controlled the game well at scrum half.No game planned for this Saturday but the club is on the look out for a fixture.
