Sunday 21st April

U7’s

Chelmsford Festival

Blown away by the commitment from all the players on Sunday morning for festival matches against Basildon, Chelmsford, South Woodham and Woodford.
Some brilliant games and every player got at least one try..
Really good play and some great scores in particular from Oliver W, Miles and Milo, finished off with them all getting a medal for their efforts.

Special mentions to -
Max (top tagger for the week) at one point Max tagged at least 3 players in a row!
Rex (top try scorer)
A close call with Arthur for top try scorer!

Well done all!

Training - Sunday 28th 9-10am

U8’s

The under 8s went to Chelmsford Festival today. They played 4 games
2 wins a draw and lost 1 .
All of them played extremely well.
Man of the match was River .
They now look forward to starting contact .

Finished for this year.

U9’s

The Nuclear Nines were away at Chelmsford for an end of season tournament.

The sun came out….and the wind! The boys played some great games x4 including some strong defence and some great offloading, and tries.

Everyone contributed to the games and kept their focus over the games once again showing great team spirit.

Special mention to Harry who volunteered immediately when the question was asked to play on the opposition team due to their low numbers. Well done Harry!

Keep up the good work Nuclear Nines!

U15’s

The U15’s hosted Westcliff in the last league game of the season and unfortunately lost 12-33. We haven’t played Westcliff in a number of years and were very impressed with their sides power in their forwards where their main scoring came from and ability to shift the ball across their line. They have probably been the most balanced side we have played this season so a good bar to aspire for next season. Positively, we also moved the ball well to secure our first try and also our boys didn’t give up but kept trying until the end which was rewarded by a late score in the last few moments! We just didn’t do enough in between to get close to Westcliff this time so this game is being filed as a learning opportunity with tackling and some defensive line speed work identified for our next few training sessions.

MOM as voted for by the opposition went to Frank Courtney who also won the Mars bar challenge against their MOM to restore some much needed pride for the club and this tee’d us up nicely for a fun afternoon of awards, games and food together.

Awards were presented to the well deserved winners as follows
Players Player: Joshua Leek
Parents Player: Reub Obeney
Coaches Player: Ben Thomas
Developing Performer: Oliver Neale
Clubman: Liam Devine

Congratulations!

We are also pleased to announce that the following players have been called up for the Saracens County Player Development Group for training sessions and potentially some inter-county fixtures over the next few weeks:
Reub Obeney; Joshua Leek; Oliver Neale; Joe Evans; George Walker and Frank Courtney.

Well done, the club are proud of you all! Go well lads, don’t be shy and confidently show them what you can do! We are proud and support you!

Shout out also to the lads that didn't get selected this time from the DPP to trial for PDG fixtures, please don’t be disheartened. Opportunities to get involved at higher and county levels will happen for everyone that keeps playing over the coming years. As ever - our advice for the best ways to help yourself are: prioritise enjoying your rugby; keeping fit (stamina/fast/strong); attending rugby as much as possible; trying your best during all training/games; watching as much rugby as possible and being open to learning from the various sources available to you including your fellow players.

Finally we raised an impressive amount of funds to help with our plans for our group over the next 12 months - thanks to any club members that supported! It was great to be together and celebrate all of the boys with support from their wider families and friends. Well done those that volunteered and made the day so special, you know who you are!

An end of season tri-fixture next Sunday away at Saracens Amatuers joined by Wasps. Following that we have our end of season 4 day tour down in Dorset which we are all excited for!

We have entered a side into a 7’s tournament on the 19th May at Old Reigatians in Surrey. A playing squad will be selected by the coaching team and informed over the coming week or so.
