Clapton turned in an outstanding performance on Saturday afternoon. The pace, power, tempo and aggression was simply to much for Writtle on this dry and cold January afternoon. Clapton’s greater organisation and cohesiveness shining through this top of the table clash.
Since the season has commenced, Clapton have shown progress each week they have played. However, sides that push on and contend for end of season honours need maintain consistency in everything that they do. We have 8 league games left to play and it starts again with Ilford Wanderers next week. A lot could happen between now and the end of the season.
Yesterday saw a few changes due to injuries and unavailability’s, but due to the squad system now in operation, these changes were seamless. Oliver Stokes moved up into the 2nd row and was outstanding and this also saw Lee Garwood move from his customary position of scrum half to play Number 8 and turn in a man of the match performance.
Yesterday also saw the debut of our resident ‘aussie’ Brett Ross at scrum half, with him also turning in an outstanding display. I could go on and name anyone of the backs or forwards, but the reality is everyone did their bit in order to contribute to an outstanding team performance yesterday.
