Unfortunately the winds of good fortune were not with Epping& Upper Clapton RFC on Saturday, a few 1st choice players were unavailable through injury, this coupled with an extremely frustrating set of avoidable circumstances and questionable decisions created by the appointed match official, something the club is looking into and dealing with the appropriate authorities.
Fortunately the next game is not until 11th October, when Epping travel to Millwall RFC for the second away fixture of this new season, this break should allow the players to realign their frustrations from the Dagenham game and enter the match with a belief that they will be treated fairly for the full 80 minutes.
The performance of the squad is not a true reflection of the progress that has been made over the past few months, as the recent results have supported.
However all credit to our visitors, who were savvy enough to make use of the situation presented to them, and as such took the initiative to play a grittier more abrasive style of rugby, that kept the Epping players on the back foot for most of the match. A deserved win for the hungrier squad on the day.
