On the opening day of November the sun was out and shining brightly at Thornwood as Epping Upper Clapton prepared to take on East London RFC
The squad had prepared well during the week and had highlighted some specific work ons for this game and the coming few weeks
The lovely Autumn day must have been a sign of good things to come as EUC started brightly with numerous plays and phases into the East London territory and exhibiting the previous weeks work-ons through this period, during some of this cohesive play, most of which was the best EUC had played so far this season, 4 good tries were scored through set structured play as well as open interplay between forwards and backs to the delight of the watching crowd after a Club lunch,
EUC didn’t have things all their own way as a good East London side continued to press and play in the way that they always do and were rewarded with the opportunity to score some points of their own which they duly did with a penalty opportunity making the half time score a very satisfying 28 - 3 to Epping Upper Clapton.
The second half continued much the same way the first finished with good structured play by EUC and more tries being scored across the team at various stages through the half, however East London had some scoring to do of their own with 3 tries from what must be said was soft play from the EUC men but the visitors still had to score the points and didn’t disappoint, although EUC did round off the day with a final try with another sweeping movement down the pitch.
Final score Epping Upper Clapton 49 – 20 East London
