'Mud Mud Glorious Mud'
Whether it was the early kick off or the effects of an extremely ‘ moist’ pitch or a last minute reconfigured front row, or a more determined opposition than expected, there were several excellent opportunities to practically close the game down in the first 20 minutes, which were not seen through to points on the scoreboard. Only in the period either side of half time did the Red & Whites begin to show their true form and start to exert the advantage that is associated with home fixtures.
Canvey certainly put up a fight that nullified the sustained pressure and territory probing from Epping. However on the 30 minute mark things started to change and the home team had worked out where and why they had missed scoring opportunities.
The second half had a more confident feel to it with a steady flow of points from a healthy mix of forwards and backs, which following recent analysis reflects the general trend for the season so far. The final phase of the match saw a minor reversal of fortunes, with a yellow card; thankfully the lads managed to withstand the one man disadvantage and finished the game victorious , with a 29-3 win.
