Epping travelled to the home of ‘East Enders’ for what was sure to be an interesting fixture against Millwall, who so far this season have had a mixed bag of results, this in itself creates an uncertainly for any opponents before the first whistle
From the outset the visitors will have been cheered by the number of supporters who had travelled to watch the game. Within minutes of the start, the combined desire to play was evident to a man. The linkage between 9 and the backs in general was making for a busy time for the home side defence. Once the squad had settled into a routine the points ticked over nicely throughout the whole game.
One small blimp in the game master plan, was comedic juggling act on our own try line from a restart, which resulted in one of the Millwall players managing to dab the ball down whilst an Epping player was holding it, classic !!! Guilty parties shall remain nameless to protect the innocent . This unfortunate situation allowed the opposition to avoid having to record ‘Nil Point’ on the match report.
A convincing win for Epping with a final score of 5-84, however all credit to Millwall, who battled on until the last whistle and certainly tested the men in red and white on numerous occasions during the game
With such a commanding performance, it would be unfair to pick a stand out player. This week was most definitely a ‘TEAM’ effort. A special word of thanks went to the referee Nicholas McAlpine for a first class performance with the whistle.
