Firstly an apology from the author for the lack of a match report for the Eagles game when they beat Billericay 43-8 unfortunately the author watched the first team as it was clear after 15 minutes the Eagles didn’t need his support

Also the consumption of too much IPA dodnt help. Have you seen the pictures of our chairman?? He was worse than the author. The tries came fast and furious and were scored by Barks, the old warhorse reminds me of Forest Gump , Jamie Illic, Steven Douglas fell over from 2 yards, Stacey, Mr Ayres, (we may need him to help us out another week) and Dannie Visser
The Eagles are second in their league and have only lost once all season, more importantly they are attracting wonderful players back to our game including Jamie Illic, Elliot Monk, Louis Dix, Jordan Elmer, Andrew Green and Liam O’Connor. And a few old war hoses including Pablo Beccera and Rob Shields
Every new player is an asset to our club and the next few weeks will see the return of more young and old players Jones and Chinny where are you?

Clapton entered this friendly on Saturday against Enfield Ignations with another young side plus sprinkling of wisdom in the form of Stacey Tether
Ignations probably had on average 15 years age benefit?? and about 3 stone a man extra weight , but with Danny Elmer and Adam Prince (Captain) laying out a simple game plan to keep the ball away from their forward, the back row of Matt MacDonald and Matt Sweeney (the man of the match) tore into every second phase, Jordan Elmer at 8 seemed to attract the ball all day and each time took many yards in his return play, in fact it was hard to spot the back row as the front five were there all afternoon to support the tacklers and second phase special praise to Crouchy and Louis for their second phase. The plan was simple wear them down and move them around, Enfield were the first to score with a penalty after a rolling maul was bought down near the Eagles line Clapton soon came back into the game after fine interplay between backs and forwards Matt Macdonald scored a fine unconverted try
The Eagles took their time to impose themselves on the game but in the second half it came good, not surprisingly all three tries were scored by the backs, whilst the forwards excelled in the second phase and held their own in the tight.
The first of the second half by Jamie Illic who is getting back into his game, after a quick penalty by Adam Prince, the ball passed out along the line and a fine shift pass from Lindsey Dobbin for Jamie to finish it off
Dannie Visser who had come on at half time for young Stacey started to make cracks appear and scored the next try after a fine move involving many passages of play with Young Jack Harty giving his customary dummy pass
The final try came from Tome Blaine who was on Dannie’s shoulder in support and out -sprinted the covering defence
Unfortunately Charlie Oakes had a bad day with the kicking tee but his kicking out of hand kept the Eagles in the right part of the pitch for most of the afternoon
To their credit Ignations weren’t finished and concluded the game with a try of their own, final result 20-8
It was great to welcome back TC after a lay off due to injury, Pat Mooney and Martin Smith both guesting, but without the likes of ever present Nathan Ambrose and Crouchy this side cant flourish, keep it up guys, don’t forget no one is ever replaced, they are just rested
Overall a great game of rugby enjoyed by a good crowd on the side-line

The Eagles travel away this weekend to Upminster who are top of the league, now they have to start winning away
