Gutsy perfomance but the 2's come up short

Two very good sides who went at each other hammer and tong, the difference on the day was very slim. Of course we could have done things better, none more so than the stand in scrum half (poor Jake probably still having nightmares). The lads are turning into a good side improving week by week and its disappointing when they have worked so hard to lose so narrowly.

We started well with Harry showing some excellent foot work to score the first try and convert. We knew Thurruck were no mugs and they would come back at us but a fine individual try by Shads saw us take a 12-0 lead.

From this moment on…..Thurruck could do no wrong and the Epping boys could do no right. Wave after wave of pressure was rebuked until another penalty saw us pinned back into our 22 and from a catch and drive the ball was recycled a number of times for Thurruck to get on scoreboard.

The 2nd half saw some huge tackles from Liam, Harry and Dale and the whole 15 defending hard. We just could not keep the ball and the big men from Long Lane kept pilling in to us and eventually scored another 2 tries.
It was a great game full of blood and guts and good luck to the Thurruck lads a very good side who look like they will win the league this year.

The frustrated Epping boys will take the experience into next weeks Cup match against Millwall at home and hope to progress.
