The improvement continues

EUCRFC 2nd XV 40 – 5 Southend

28th February saw some serious support for the 2nd XV with many of the club supporters turning up for a league clash lunch.

The Epping lads started as they meant to go on with a textbook crash try from Scott Stalley and conversion by his brother, Ross (actually Harry but Ed had been at the lunch too)

The club continued to link passages of play and look threatening as the forward pack gave the backs a great platform to build phases. Harry Barker scored a great try after beating several players with classic footwork. The conversion scored again by Ross (Harry) Stalley and the scoreline sat at 14-0.

Southend were not ready for this game to be over quite yet and they returned the favour with a well-worked team try. This put the half time score at 14-5.

The second half saw a determined Epping side, Ross (twinkle toes) Stalley and Liam (catch me if you can) Rodgers both scoring converted tries from distance and Harry Barker scoring again with a decisive cut through the defensive line and outpacing the cover from within our own half . This put the score at 35-5.

In classic front row style the mighty Adam (Hulk) Ayres crashed over the tryline, with opposition players hanging off him, to put an end to the game. Final score was 40-5.

Some good play from the 2nd XV, but with many missed opportunities and wasted overlaps. If they are to win the league they must take advantage of these chances.
