Epping 43 Chelmsford 7

Another fine win for the second team this week against the table toppers Chelmsford.
The last time these two teams had met was in the merit table plate final with Chelmsford coming out on top
For this match Epping had the availability of several senior squad members that strengthed an already impressive XV
Most noticable inclusions were Cam Furlong coming in at Prop and Mitch Dinn at Fly half (although not starting due to some mechanical failings). Clapton also welcomed the return of two former first team captains in Paul Baldwin and Lee Garwood

Early concerns that the game may be called off due to heavy rain were unfounded as by kick off time the pitch was bathed in golden sunlight!
Claptons forwards started off in an aggressive mood as they hammered into the Chelmsford defensive with a series of drives. The visitors were finding it difficult to get out of there twenty two. The pressure finally told with Cam bruising his way over, Kilden converting (yes he did!!).
The home side continued to exhort pressure and further scores soon followed with Shadai Smith and Tom Roberts the benefactors.

Half time score at 17-0 to Epping. Changes were made with Dinners, Doodle, Alan Swales and Lindsey Dobbin all coming on.
The second half began where the first ended with Clapton in the ascendancy with further tries going to Roberts (for his brace) Kilden, Stride and Dinners.
It wasnt all plain sailing for the home side as Chelmsford never gave up with there pack especially on top for the majority of the game. With the match entering the final quarter Chelmsford were rewarded for there efforts with a try, they also crossed the line for a second time but was disallowed for some naughtiness
A fine victory for the 2s with many good performances that will keep the pressure on their first team counterparts
Next week the team are on their travels once more, this time to Witham for another merit table match
