Daggers blunted

After last week’s rare defeat the ageing pipe and slippers brigade were back to winning ways on Saturday after a comprehensive victory against Dagenham 2s.

It was like a blast from the past with three teams playing at home all attired in their new, sponsored, pretty Samurai shirts . Nowhere to change, queuing for the shower, four deep at the bar....it was bloody horrible!!

The old boys had made a few changes from the previous week with Jailboy, Moobs (reluctantly..thank you Mrs Moobs), Shrek jnr, Sprolly and Loyne all making their first starts of the season. Dagenham had turned up one short and with no NO NAME to give them this week Saga happily volunteered.

The match started with Dagenham controlling most of the possession as the old boys struggled to get out of first gear. However after 10 minutes and against the run of play the home side opened the scoring when Kenty picked up from the back of a scrum and charged down the blind side. He was eventually felled just a yard before the try line but managed to pop the ball to the grateful Weeble who wobbled a bit and fell over the line (he did get back up again).

This pattern continued throughout the first half as Dagenham struggled to break through the Clapton defence while the old boys were notching up the tries with Lobbo, LESLEY STACEY, Potato and Cup Final Des all crossing the white wash. Dagenham’s frustrations were intensifying which eventually spilled over when the visiting centre took a swing at Cup Final.....the only comment I will make on this matter is BAD MOVE

Half time approached with the Club in a healthy 31 point lead. Clapton would have liked to have made some changes at the interval but there only sub, John "the Guvnor" Knights had disappeared and was eventually found also playing for the opposition!

The Old boys could not match the first half’s try count by managing only one in the second half. It was a beaut though with Lobbo taking a scissor deep in his own twenty two then outpacing players half his age to pop the ball down under the posts. Moments later and worryingly Cup Final was forced from the field, much to the relief of the opposing centre, with a hurty leg. He was replaced by Elvis who had left the building to change before coming on (note to Elvis: subs are supposed to have their kit on even if they aren't starting!!)

As the game entered the final quarter Dagenham found some success as the old boys tired and crossed for two late tries.

The MOM rosette went to Weeble for scoring a rare try and having a new nickname.

Next week the Extra A travel to Witham for another merit table match
